Demand management solutions provide CPower delivers flexible load management to Verakari Crypto Mines’ Pennsylvania site.
CPower has implemented its EnerWise Site Optimisation service, which should enable Verakari’s crypto mining site to better align with price, demand and marginal emissions.
The Pennsylvania site, within the PJM Interconnection, should thereby have reduced energy costs while delivering support to the grid.
The site also should redirect carbon free power to help PJM reduce its reliance on fossil fuel resources.

“Verakari is always looking for ways to enable a cleaner and more reliable grid for ourselves and our local community while limiting interruption at our site,” comments CEO Tim Sandau.
“Working with CPower means getting paid for becoming a flexible power use site during a limited number of peak or critical hours across the year to balance the grid while advancing our sustainability initiatives.”
The project announcement, made at POWERGEN International 2022, marks the latest in a growing number of crypto mining sustainability initiatives as pressures mount in response to the high energy consumption of Bitcoin mining in particular.
CPower’s EnerWise Site Optimisation is an artificial intelligence-powered engine designed to help distributed energy resource owners and developers manage and monetise their resources across multiple energy markets and utility programmes simultaneously by analysing the latest market and grid conditions.
The company claims management of approximately 318MW of DERs for data centres and more than 5.3GW of DERs in total for commercial and industrial businesses across the US.
“With the US now hosting more crypto companies than any other country in the world, we’re seeing a concerted effort from this industry to use flexible load curtailment and behind-the-meter assets to keep costs down and provide key services to the grid, with the holistic goal of focusing on their emissions reduction and other ESG initiatives,” comments Glenn Bogarde, senior vice president – Sales at CPower.
